THE SNORKELING EXCURSION

PRACTICAL EXERCISE

Plan the excursion.

I. Have a Proper Excursion Plan

Candidates should show you a written excursion plan and than respect it.

II. Prepare the equipment.

Interfere only if you see mistake that can hurt the safety of the excursion.

Take note of mistakes of inexperience you see and reserve to discuss them during the debriefing.

III. Pre-excursion briefing.

Candidates should do a proper pre-excursion briefing listing all the needed points.

IV. Excursion.

a) Managing the excursion

Observe how candidates manage the excursion and share tasks.

Observe if they understood the importance of the Team Working.

V. Procedures After the Excursion.

a) Exit the water.

Observe how candidates manage the exit, they should demonstrate to know how to maintain the customers’ safety.

b) Equipment care and maintenance.

c) Candidates debriefing.

Observe how candidates do the debriefing, take note on how they point out the emotions lived during the excursion, they also should suggest how to increase the customers’ comfort in the water and correct any action that could damage the environment.

FINAL EVALUATION

Debriefing

This is the last session of the Snorkeling Guide course. 

You must decide if each candidate is ready to be certified.

Remember that this is a Professional Level so by let each candidate pass the course you are taking the responsibility to allow them to work as Snorkeling Guide and to care about the safety of their future clients.

You must be sure that they understood the importance of their certification, the safety of the snorkelers they will lead will depend on them as well as the education of the clients to respect the environment and leave it healthy for future generations.

RECORDS

  • Training Record: Both you and the students must initial and date in the appropriate space in the training record section for Open Water session 1.

  • Training Record: Both you and the candidate must sign in the appropriate space to confirm that the candidate has completed the Snorkeling guide training and is ready to be certified.

APPLICATION

  • You must apply for the candidate certification to the SNSI Office within 10 days by the end of the course.

  • Remember: this is a professional certification so the application must be done using your MySNSI website trough the Professional Application page and the required documents must be uploaded.
  • If any document is missing the application will remain suspended and you will  go under quality assurance investigation.
