SNSI Statement – Data Privacy and Confidentiality Notice

Follow-up to our public statement dated April 22, 2025

Following our initial communication regarding the public allegations involving one of our certified instructors, many members of our community have asked for updates or demanded the disclosure of specific actions taken by SNSI.

We understand the importance of transparency. However, we must emphasize that SNSI is bound by strict data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), which applies to the processing of personal data even beyond the borders of the European Union.

These laws explicitly prohibit the disclosure of personal or disciplinary information related to identifiable individuals, regardless of the seriousness of the case or public interest.

For this reason, SNSI cannot and will not release any further details regarding the individual involved, the internal proceedings underway, or any decision that may result, until advise otherwise by our legal department.

This is not a matter of shielding anyone—it is a matter of legal compliance and respect for the rights of all parties involved.

SNSI reaffirms its commitment to justice, fairness, and the safety of the diving community. We continue to act with rigor and professionalism behind the scenes, ensuring that all actions taken are based on verified documentation and carried out in accordance with our internal Code of Ethics and the law.

As part of our ongoing commitment to institutional transparency, SNSI maintains an official online verification tool that allows anyone to check the current status of certified professionals by entering their name and date of birth or the SNSI Pro Number.

Professional Verification

We thank our community for its patience and understanding as we navigate this complex and sensitive matter with the seriousness it demands.
